IF YOU LOOK DOWN
is a mini photo project that began as practice rolls of film I gifted myself after receiving my first film camera.
Since, it has become a few days worth of developed photos, filled with many blurry, almost- somethings, that either bring a smile to my face or feel like a strong memory.
The title is half of a phrase I once wanted tattooed ... and still do on sensitive days.
The full saying is: if you look down, that´s where you´ll go.
I found myself thinking of this phrase often while spending more time with the camera: outside, wandering, reconnecting with spaces and people I love, and reminding myself to look up.
It´s this small change in perspective, both literally and metaphorically, that made finding sweet moments like these, easy.
Spanning from New York to New Orleans, these photos take a turn towards exploring themes of faith: in self, in others, and in the shifting paths we find ourselves on.
It is a blind faith, that has become my favorite way of seeing.
